CD + EXPO ” A ROAD-TRIP THROUGH MOROCCO”

From both a personal and artistic point of view, this Expo was interesting for me. Combining the new CD, “A Road Trip Through Morocco”, with a classic photo exhibition and film presentation was an experiment. There is always room for improvement, of course, but it was quite a good start.

Here’s a little movie combining musical themes from the record with roughly 20 % of the pictures on display:

Here is what the Moroccan press wrote:

“Celebrating the Art of Travel” ( Moroccan Press Agency)

George Leitenberger: A road trip through Morocco transformed into a multimedia fresco

German artist George Leitenberger has transformed his journey through Morocco into a unique multimedia work, combining music, photography and film. Featuring desert roads, the sounds of everyday life, and dreamlike collages, this trilingual project pays tribute to a country with a thousand faces, celebrating the art of travel as a sensory and spiritual experience.

The EXPO “A ROAD-TRIP THROUGH MOROCCO” will open on 22 May 2025. A bit further down you’re going to find a handful of photographs – for obvious reasons the big majority of the photographs which will be on display at the EXPO will not appear online.

Here’s a link to the Ville de Geneve announcement with some useful bilingual info like opening hours, directions etc: https://openagenda.com/en/agenda-geneve-tourisme/events/a-road-trip-through-morocco-cd-expo?cl=en

Discover the CD and teasers … and some photos from the road.

A multimedia collage of travel-photos and film-footage together with a new trilingual CD, a musical logbook of travel songs, fusion instrumentals, intimate moments and background noises.

FYI: The pictures of the exhibition are grouped mainly around the CD’s twelve titles out of which four are instrumentals, six are in English, one is in French and one in German

In general, the pictures follow two main directions: ROADSIDE displays photos from the road as I saw them. DREAMSIDE sometimes shows the same images as I experienced them.

At times these two perceptions seem to touch and even overlap.

This road-trip through Morocco – the book of a thousand different pages – provided me with many of these fabulous moments…I am grateful to the great big spirit without a name.

DREAMSIDE

CROSSING THE STRAIT I – SOUTHBOUND :

“Muslim Madonna”

First of all: There are few pictures of people in this exhibition, simply because in general, people in Morocco don’t want to be photographed without their consent.

On the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier, in a moment of transition: A man has laid his head in the lap of a woman. The woman’s fingers touch one another.

In order not to expose the two people, I focus on another person in the foreground (no longer in the frame) and thus ensure that the ‘couple’ in the background remains out of focus.

It is a timeless scene between two worlds, while crossing the strait of Gibaltar, between two great civilisations, a scene as old as mankind and yet, at least in Muslim countries, somehow unusual in the public eye – hence this completely contradictory title.

Just as I had taken the shot, someone asked me something and when I turned ’round a minute or so later the two people had gone.

DREAMSIDE

CASABLANCA DAYDREAM

“?” Palais El Glaoui / Dar El Glaoui, Fes

The fate of the crumbling Palais or Dar El Glaoui in the garden district of Fes reflects a large part of Morocco’s history in the 20th century.

On the album ‘A road-trip through Morocco’, a twelve-minute piece is dedicated to El Glaoui and Abdou, its last resident.

To me, the “?” on one of the walls of the countless corridors sums it all up.
